John moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 with his wife, Rhonda, from Santa Cruz, CA. John often says of his wife, “she literally was the girl down the street”, as they lived five houses away from each other for several years before they met in 1976. They married in 1980 and have a grown son and daughter and four grandsons.

 

John is an accomplished musician and his desire to be a rock and roll star ended when he met Jesus in 1987. He is honored to play worship in his home church and often does outreaches in the valley. He enjoys the outdoors and hikes regularly, he also enjoys kayaking, running and playing with his grandsons.

 

John embarked on a successful career in residential home building in 1994. He also, worked with the U. S. Forest Service on many building contracts and has maintained a good reputation in the valley. During his time as a contractor, John often volunteered his time and skills to work with the youth with organizations such as the former, Youth For Christ, and various churches in the valley where he went on several mission trips to the Navajo Reservations in the Four Corners region and Mexico.

 

John has been plugged in with the youth and his community for over 30 years. In most recent years, he volunteered with 71Five he met and employed one of the students for a couple years before retiring in 2022. He feels right at home at 71Five and is blessed to be a part of the VoTech staff where he can continue to share his love for Jesus and knowledge of building with young people.
